Since 2021, I have been leading a team to develop a tool to monitor digital competence across the lifespan (project DIGCOM; see also dedigiq.nl), commisioned by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (MinBZK). As a follow-up to this project, together with MinBZK, I have launched the Project Competence Insight Dashboard (or: project CID) to monitor national trends in digital competence.
Together with my colleagues Annemarie van Oosten, Claes de Vreese, and Dian de Vries (now working at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences), we will be investigating how digital competences changes (or not) over time. Moreover, we are developing a dashboard which will show – at a glance – the digital competence of different populations in the Netherlands. Such insight can aid both policy and intervention design more effectively. A first round of data-collection is planned to take place in the Fall of 2024.
